In Memoriam

We note with profound sadness the passing of Dr. George Dorion, a founding
Trustee of Bacardí Family Foundation.  George had in previous years been both
urging BACARDÍ to protect the environment and developing the technology to do it.
He was an ideal Trustee, practical and independent but humorous and engaging.

Our deepest condolences to Dottie and his extensive family. Obituary

About

The Bacardi Family Foundation is a 501(c)3  non-profit foundation.  The foundation has no affiliation with Bacardi Limited other than the fact that Bacardi Limited is a family owned company and that this is a foundation comprised of members of that family.  The bat device is a registered tradmark of  Bacardi Limited and is used with permission. The Bacardi Family Foundation does not have the support of the company to speak or act for the company. The Bacardi Family Foundation is a group of family members acting together to carry out our own philanthropic mission. The goal of the Foundation is to affect social good in long lasting ways.   We draw our inspiration from the example of our ancestors in Cuba, who served their society in myriad ways, including as public servants, philanthropists, artists, educators, industrialists, and employers.

Our current mission focuses on three areas that can have lasting impact for social good:  the preservation of the natural environment – with special emphasis on oceans and coastlines; on human welfare, with special emphasis on health and education; and on preserving and enhancing the culture of the Caribbean, with special emphasis on Cuba.

We aspire to be global in our scope, but we begin at home, with a strong focus on the Caribbean and the surrounding region.

We strive to be a forum where the extended members of the Bacardi Family can join together, share experiences and opinions, and work together to maximize our resources and abilities in order to better serve the communities in which we live and work.  Our goal is to be an organization that creates a space where new members of the family can come to learn about the history of the family and the company, as well as meet other family members and engage in constructive dialogue and productive cooperation.  To that end, we select family members to represent us on the Foundation board, we participate in discussions about what initiatives to support and how, and we give of our time and resources to meet the goals we set for ourselves.
